O termo<strong> \u00edgnea<\/strong> \u00e9 derivado do latim <em>ignis<\/em> que significa fogo.<\/p>\n<p>Do grupo das olivinas, o <strong>peridoto<\/strong> \u00e9 quimicamente constitu\u00eddo de silicato de magn\u00e9sio e ferro. E uma das teorias que explica a chuva desse mineral \u00e9 justamente a sua composi\u00e7\u00e3o, pois a viol\u00eancia das recentes erup\u00e7\u00f5es espalhou o magma para o ar, onde as altas temperaturas de cristaliza\u00e7\u00e3o dos silicatos de ferro e do magn\u00e9sio permitiu que se transformassem rapidamente em <strong>pedras de olivina<\/strong> antes de atingir o solo. Sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 concentrada no Paquist\u00e3o, Mianmar, China e EUA.
